Message If youre stating that a cracked cap rod is stronger than a machined cap im going to strongly disagree with you. The parting line at which the rod cap is machined honestly has no real bearing on quality. All of the forged rods for the VG30 are doweled. This eliminates housing bore distortion under load and ensures uniformity as the rod grows in size when heated. A cracked cap is never doweled and is the cheapest way to retain a bore dimension but by no means a superior or better system than running a dowel pin. Even forged aluminum rods are doweled and are also serrated which gives you ultimate locating
